Afternoon Outing

Restored museum
I failed to explain yesterday that not only was Wednesday a bank holiday, but so was Thursday and since the French see no point in going back to work for just Friday, they just gave us the day off too. Most of my friends headed off somewhere during this little break, but I've stuck around in Grenoble. Yesterday after lunch with my host family, they decided we should go on a drive. We went and explored two medieval sites about an hour from Grenoble.
L'Isère
First was the ruins of a castle and surroundings (church, outer wall, etc.) and a museum that accompanied it in Beauvoir-en-Royans. It all overlooks the river Isère and the Vercors mountains.
Main building ruins
And then we went to Pont-en-Royans to see the houses built into and suspended on the mountains and the picturesque river that runs through it all. The weather throughout this all was rather warm and comfortable, despite the grim looking clouds. But on the way back, we drove into a massive storm that poured on Grenoble all night.
