I have an invitation to go look at puppies and I got to eat pizza with my hands for the first time in months. Unfortunately, I have no pictures today, because I ended up being otherwise occupied having a great time. My class was cancelled for the day, so I made plans to meet with a French friend.
We met around noon and went to her house (the same I visited about a month ago) to have lunch and spend the day together. It was "top" as you say in French (there should be an accompanying thumbs-up-y hand motion). We chatted, discussed music and films and travel destinations, ate, and laughed for hours.
I stayed for dinner and was there until about an hour ago. I really enjoy her family- they're always laughing and I only embarrassed myself at dinner a few times. We had pizza and when I saw they were eating it with their hands...like real humans...I quickly threw my knife and fork aside and dug in. Hours around the dinner table have always been something that I love, but France is cementing its importance. I hadn't realized we'd been sitting there so long, until I looked up at the clock that read 23:20. And we weren't even done. Quite a few glasses later, we moved to the living room to watch a French comedian that talked entirely too fast and laugh some more.
It was a great, and completely unexpected day. The best kind.
Definitely imagined you doing a thumbs-up-y motion when I read "top." Glad to see we're on the same page.
