And we're back...

"Love is the miracle of civilization" -Stendhal
I've been in a bit of a funk. Not putting a lot of thought or effort in to school, communication, or really anything. That's definitely reflected here. I don't know the reason for feeling out of sorts, just that kind of week, I guess. But today was great. It's sunny and gorgeous and the air felt fresher.

I took advantage of the day with a roam around town and a picnic on a sun drenched park bench with a friend. We pieced together our lunch from our favorite boulangerie and the market. I really enjoyed myself in the market. It was a little crowded and the merchants were simultaneously yelling, kissing, weighing, changing money, and sipping coffees from behind their scales.

And in between the market and the park, we walked down a small street that was mysteriously covered in Stendhal quotes (the literary celebrity of Grenoble). I made it a point to get a picture of every single one. While my friend just had a fun time watching me hop from quote to quote.
"The landscapes were like a bow that played my soul" -Stendhal
What else happened this week? I celebrated Valentine's day with a bar of chocolate and have been finalizing plans for my family's visit in about a week! Two nights ago I went to an opera, Nabucco by Verdi, with my host mom and two of my friends. It was a fun experience, if only a little hindered by the ridiculously loud group of kids seated next to us in the amphitheater. Tomorrow I may go snowshoeing with my host family, or perhaps some other kind of activity. It was yet to be decided.
