Home, Sweet Home

The hills around town
I've been home in California for a whole week now. And I'm just now starting to sleep like a normal human being. The jet lag hit me quite hard. Aside from sleeping and soaking up this sun thing that has become almost foreign to me, what's been happening around here?

Well, we celebrated my Nani's 80th birthday at our house. We had a great party in the backyard with the whole family there. It was sunny and there was plenty of (read: too much) food and I got to see everyone. Though this meant starting the onslaught of questions. "What was the best place you visited? How do you say that in French? Do they have this there? How's the jet lag? What time would it be there? Have you eaten this/that? I bet you haven't had real food in months! Can you pick a favorite moment?"

All of those are really difficult questions. Especially on about three hours of spotty sleep. I told them I'd think on it...on verra.
Giant Dipper- by far the best ride in town
I'm trying very hard to actually do things this summer, and not just sit around watching Netflix in my pajamas until my parents come home from work and I feel enough shame to move my interneting into a different room. I'm not here for very long, so I'm not going to search for a summer job, but I've got a plan for various activities.

Anyway, in an attempt to be more active, I went to the beach. Well, I met my cousins and their friends there. We had a very fun day sitting on the beach and riding classics at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. We even got dipped cones from Snow Whites and In N' Out for dinner. One bite, and it's instantly summer.
Being home is weird though. I'm realizing how few people I actually know in my hometown. And while I won't be hopping from country to country for a while, I intend on continuing this whole blog thing (or blob as my Nani calls it). I feel like it would be a shame to stop now. And I like it, it's really good to reflect back on experiences in an attempt to share them with people. So there will still be regular updates on my life and I think I'll go back and go more depth into the things I wish I could have elaborated on before. Allez, on continue.

Cheerio

I've had an absolutely lovely time in London these last two days and I'll share about my time once I get home. The airport doesn't exactly lend well to clear blogging thoughts and articulate phrases. At the moment I'm sitting in London Heathrow starting the journey back home to California. It's going to be a long day but at the end of it I'll be asleep in my own bed and all loved up by my family. C'est parti

2 Days

I've only got two days left here in sunny California and we've been trying to make the most of them. Yesterday my dad and I left the house at 5am to make it down to Solvang for breakfast. And in my dad's eyes, there's only one restaurant there: Paula's Pancake House. We met my godfather there and had a great breakfast and some good time together.

Paula's in Solvang, a.k.a. Little Denmark
After Solvang, we headed back up the coast to Avila Beach, a tiny beach town in its own little bay just north of Pismo, for swinging on the beach and a great view!
