Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving all! I celebrated here in Paris by going to Thanksgiving lunch with everyone in my program. It was an interesting mix of traditional holiday foods and probably what they thought we eat. There was a bet going at the table as to what exactly we'd be served. And then we had fun imagining the restaurant googling Thanksgiving to figure out what to make.

A somewhat off putting photo of my meal. Yum.
I wish I had a nicer picture to share, but this is all I had time to take during our meal. The restaurant was a little dark, and this plate isn't the most visually appealing. We had a butternut squash soup to start, then this plate of mashed potatoes, carrots, corn, and turkey covered in a sort of spiced cranberry sauce. And then dessert was ice cream and a weird little pecany thing. I was hoping for pumpkin pie, but sadly none.

It was nice to be with friends sharing a meal though. No matter what you eat, it's the company that's more important today. I'm missing my family enormously, but I'm thankful to be in France and to be having all sorts of new experiences.
